First socials

Sorry this has been added a little late. I seem to be far too busy to even eat in my third year.

Details of both the Trampolining and Gymnastics socials have been added to the news page. In brief, the Trampolining lot are meeting at The Hyde Park pub at 7pm on Monday 3rd October (Yeah ok, that's today). The Gym lot are meeting at the Parkinson steps the following Monday (10th October) at 6:15pm.

I am pleased to announce that the first Gymnastics session had an excellent turn out despite many saying they would not be able to make it on Sunday. Hope to see even more next week.

Click here for the long awaited map to the Beckett's Park complex.

See you all soon.

Welcome oldies and newbies !

A big welcome back to all the second, third and fourth years that have been associated with Leeds University Gymnastics and Trampolining in the past. You poor soles.

An even bigger Welcome! to the Freshers of 2005. I hope as many of you as possible take it upon yourselves to at least consider the barrels of fun that may be had at both above mentioned clubs. Last year saw a pretty decent influx of newbies but this year we hope to grab a whole lot more of you from the safety of our sports fayre stalls! Seriously though, take the weight of your tired feet for a couple of minutes and listen to what we have to offer. Ignore the rumours that gymnastics and trampolining require years of training and extreme talent and believe us when we tell you that anyone can become an accomplished gymnast or trampolinist. At the very least, put pen to paper and come along to the first few sessions to see for yourself the kind of training and levels of experience. You might be surprised.

Calling all you experienced sports-people........ We really want to do better this year when it comes to competing. This requires real talent and experience. If you have this experience and would like to continue your gymnastics or trampolining while at university then for heavens sake get involved !!!!!!

That's it for now. See you all soon.

Have a good Summer !

That's it then. Another year over and done with! Hope everyone has done all right in their exams etc. I'm sure there will be a few well-urned degrees on their way to some of you guys in the near future.

For those of you that won't be returning after summer, all the best in the future and I hope you enjoyed being a part of the Leeds University Gymnastics and Trampolining clubs. We've loved having you, honest.

I've given the site a brush up for the summer but don't waste too much time looking at it - enjoy the damn sun. It will be gone before you know it.

Cya in October sometime.

Dublin. Easter. AGM.

Congratulations to all those that competed at this years ISTO Trampolining competition in Dublin (02/04/05). By the sound of things it appears a lot of you did very well indeed. A detailed list of results can be found by clicking here or selecting the 'Competition Results' link to the left.

Secondly, welcome back from the easter holiday, I hope you all had a decent enough break from work and didn't over-indulge too much in that anti-gymnastic substance they call chocolate.

Ahead lies the all important Gymnastics AGM Meeting to be held in the Becketts Park Sports Centre reception an hour before Saturday's training slot (23/04/05). Here last years committee will discuss the success of the club over the past 12 months and the selection of next years committee will take place.

If you would like to put yourself forward for any of the committee roles or would like to vote for any of the current nominees you are welcome to turn up and do so. I hope to see as many of you there as possible.

New year, New term, New everything...

Right, another biiiiiiiig apology for not getting my arse in gear and updating the site a little sooner in the year.

Hope everyone didn't gain too many pounds over the festive break - i'm sure the hard work you'll be putting in this term will more than work them off if you did :-P

Right, both clubs are now working up to a few BIG events........

For Trampolining there is the Annual BUSA regionals to be held on the 12th February followed by the BUSA Finals for all the successful bouncers on the 13th March. There's the Edinburgh comp on the 19th Feb and the ISTO comp (Dublin) on the weekend of the 2nd / 3rd March.
The Christie Cup is to be hosted by Leeds University this year and that will be on the 9th March.

For Gymnastics there is the Annual BUSA competition to be held in Lileshall (home of the British Olympic Gymnastics Squad) on the 12th March. Teams have more or less been decided and routine choreography is well underway. And there's great news in the sense that there is a Leeds University Men's team for the first time is history! Well done!

Right - out of space now! Check out the latest social details here. Bye!

Christmas Social

Short and sweet today, as i'm pretty sure no-one reads this anyway.

This years Gym and Tramp Christmas social was a great success. Thirty-seven members turned up at Qube and a good bunch stayed on until Halo for a night of blasphemous partying.

My photos are now online (click here). Look out for some more photos as soon as I get them.

Christmas Social Plans

Hey! I'm sorry i've not been updating the site too much recently but there really has been nothing to report!

Apologies for stating the trampolining e-mail address twice (above and on the info page). The mistake was nicely spotted by Gemma (and probably many more of you). It has now been rectified to show the new gymnastics address. Please try to get used to this address as the old hotmail one will eventually be phased out.

E-mails have been sent out by the respective social secs regarding this years Christmas social do. It will be taking place on the 6th December starting with a meal at Qube in Millennium square (7pm), followed by some drinks (and culminating drunkenness) before we head off to the Halo nightclub for a 'dance'. You will need to reply to the e-mail you receive to let the social secs know which of the two available meals you would like along with your choice of Ben & Jerry's! (I chose the Chunky Monkey!).

Finally, the uni-kit shop is now closed. Hope you all got your orders in on time.

Appologies, competitions and Kit-shop.

Right, firstly i'd like to say a big sorry for the web site being inaccessible for the last week or so - it was all down to an unpaid re-subscription fee !!!!!!!

You've not missed that much anyway, a few details of the Monday bowling social were posted and some photos have since been added to the photo gallery page.

I heard that those who travelled to the Warwick trampoline competition did pretty well and it seems they all had a good time. Look out for some results soon.

Finally, the uni-kit shop is now open. It will remain open until 11pm on Tuesday 23rd November so if you would like some kit, get there soon. The site is very easy to use - it is the same as any web-based shopping site. The site can be accessed by clicking the following link....... http://www.uni-kit.co.uk/leeds/gymnastics

Strike!!!!

Don't worry, we haven't gone on strike!

There's going to be a Gym (and possibly tramp) social on Monday 8th Novermber at the AMF bowling centre in the Merrion precinct (by Morrisons). Students get to bowl for just £1.75 per game (that's incuding silly-shoe hire!!) and we're planning on having two games - so you've no excuse even if you are as skint as a.........student.

The social fat-cats have planned to meet at the Parkinson steps at 8pm and we're going to walk down from there.

If you are interested in going please contact the social secretary Alexa ASAP so she can work out rough numbers.

Hope to see as many of you as possible there.........

Trampolining social a hit, Gymnastics Social to follow...!

Sil's recent visit to Leeds proved to be a very popular night out (judging on the amount that turned up at Barracuda). Not so many joined us for the excellent, albeit very loud night at Space but all those that did seemed to have another great night. A short taxi ride and a takeaway later and Sil had gone (for a little while again at least!). He promises to visit again sometime soon for (probably) another night at Space.

Plans are floating around for a similar Gymnastics social at Walkabout next Thursday, 28th October. (Trampolinists and "random's" welcome !)
No times have been arranged as of yet but some of the offers at Walkabout will include selected bottles, pints and Snakebite for £1.50, selected shots for £1 (or 6 for a fiver !) and double vodka Redbull's for £2 !!!!!!!!

Keep checking your e-mails / the website for further details

Hope to see you ALL there.....

Communication Error! Details of this Tuesdays' social

Hi Guys!

I have tried to send this e mail sooo many times and i apologise for the people who received blank e mails earlier on in the week, the hotmail account keeps deleting my e mails!
Anyways this is just a reminder that there will be a trampolining and gymnastics social after training on Tuesday. The plan is to finish bouncing at 9:30pm, get ready then go straight out to Barracuda for £1 a drink, then on to Space. You will probably be able to leave your training stuff in a sports centre locker, then just keep the key and pick it up the next day.
I hope a lot of people will be able to make it as the last social in Risa was a good laugh. If not we will catch u at training.

Bully

P.s. did anyone leave a watch at training last week cos i have it. Catch me on tuesday or e mail me: jha2slb@leeds.ac.uk

Year's first social a success!

It can only be through sheer luck that this year's first social took place without any injuries being sustained. The turn-out was a little less than what was hoped but a medley of new gymnasts and trampolinists* turned up and if the photo's are anything to go by - all had a great night.

I gather from what people have told me that everyone is looking forward to the long-awaited revisi
