About the clubs

Leeds University Gymnastics Club originated from a rouge offspring of the well established Leeds University Trampoline Club sometime during the 2002-2003 Academic year. Being relatively new the club was rather inexperienced at first but began climbing a steep learning curve. Known as Leeds University Gym & Tramp, both sections gained members and expertise and began attending competitions across the UK, without a great deal of success! The decision to split the two clubs came about during the club's Annual General Meeting at the end of the 2003-2004 academic year. New committee members were elected and the clubs became individually recognised by the LUU sports association.

Although the clubs remain separate, relations between the two are good and members of one are often found training at the other! Social events often coincide with each other and the web site still serves for both clubs.

The future is now an exciting time as ever for both Leeds University Gymnastics and Trampolining and we hope that the medal and trophy cabinets begin filling up quicker than ever.

All the best!!!!!!

FAQ's

Do I need any experience to become a member?

No, not at all. Most of the members who join are beginners or have only done gym / tramp at school. A lot even find themselves progressing very quickly.

What should I wear?
For gymnastics, shorts and T-shirt are fine. Socks are required for Trampolining, but hey, who doesn't own socks?

Who provides the coaching?
The gymnastics club hires a fully qualified club coach who is assisted by many of the club members with varying degrees of coaching qualifications. No matter who teaches you, you can guarantee a high-quality, no-pressure, friendly approach.
Trampolining is coached by several qualified students and the same relaxed attitude applies.

Do the club's enter competitions?
Yes. There's a whole host of them lined up throughout the year. There's the BUSA finals, the Christie Cup, ISTO you name it. They're a great opportunity to see how the clubs are progressing and involve some great days out from Manchester to Ireland !!!!!!

Do I need to be a student at Leeds University to attend training?
Anyone can attend the gymnastics sessions provided they pay the £10 annual membership and £1 per session. For trampolining you must be a member of the LUU and must have paid your £40 sports user fees.
